Dear Parents and Carers,
We have made it to the end of Term 2! It's been an incredibly busy term and we have finished today with a wonderful celebration for NAIDOC Week.
We are incredibly proud of our students as they continue to show their persistence, resilience and pride in their learning and continue to develop their sense of self.
My thanks to our dedicated teachers and support staff for everything they do. As we have navigated through this term, the staff remain committed to quality learning, and their professionalism and collegiality shines through.
We will be welcoming two new families to Corpus Christi in Term 3. We look forward to new students in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5.
My thanks to all of our parent volunteers who are working away in the background. We have a great team working every week in the uniform shop, a great team on the ground all day at the Athletics Carnival and our canteen volunteer group has started to grow.
Staffing
Year 2
Mrs Amanda Lewis has accepted the position of Classroom Teacher 0.2 (1 Day per week) on Year 2. Amanda has worked in our school since May 2021 and is known to staff and students. Amanda has worked with the Year 2 class regularly and is familiar with the students and the routines Mrs Castles has in place.
Pastoral Care Worker
I am pleased to announce that we have a new Pastoral Care Worker. Mrs Deanne March has accepted the position here at Waratah and will work on Tuesdays. Deanne works at St Benedict’s Primary School at Edgeworth and brings a wealth of experience to the role. We look forward to starting some great Pastoral Care programs next term.
Staff Development Day - Pupil Free Day Friday 12 August

Sacrament of Confirmation
On Wednesday evening we held a memorable ceremony for students from Years 4 and 5 who completed the Sacraments of Confirmation presided by Fr Greg Barker and Fr Sabu/
Our students displayed a deeply solemn and respectful manner during the important occasion. We congratulate all of our students and families.
Year 3 students will be offered the chance to start the program in Term 4 when we begin with Reconciliation.
NAIDOC Week
Today we got a head-start on NAIDOC Week, which is traditionally celebrated in the first week of July. We had an incredible day acknowledging, learning about, and celebrating our First Nations people.
We started the day with prayer. Our reflection was led by Mr Bryan Rowe from San Clemente. Brian is the Aboriginal Education Teacher at San Clemente and was able to share his own experiences and play the didgeridoo for the students.
Throughout the day the children took part in different activities led by classroom teachers. We challenged students to reflect on
What things do you do that make you feel connected to Country?
Why is it time to listen to First Nations peoples about ways to care for Country?
How can all Australians be a part of change?
