Staff Development Days for Term 3 and 4
Principal's Messages
It was a pleasure to attend the regional soccer gala day on Monday. All our students in grades 3 to 6 attended. What I enjoyed most was witnessing the friendship and sportsmanship between our students, and with students from other schools they didn't know. I saw teams who scored lots of goals and made sure every team member scored, and I saw teams who were conceding lots of goals laughing and having fun, but most importantly I saw students of all abilities encouraging each other and having a great time. No scores are recorded on this day. Its purpose is to encourage all students to enjoy physical activity and give all students an opportunity to experience a positive team sport environment - that is definitely what happened. A huge thank you to staff (especially Mrs Deveridge) for organising the event, and all the parents who helped on the day.
All young people face challenges in life. In Highway Hero's we refer to bumps and hazards, and complete lessons which give students strategies to dealing with each. Our Stage 3 students also completed the Rock and Water program which is a slightly more advanced way for dealing was issues in our lives - teaching us to be calm and centered, making measured decisions about our own wellbeing - not allowing someone or something else to control our decision making. Our Year 6 students especially are starting to face challenges online as well. In the School TV link below your will find some great resources for parents including 'Characteristics of resilient girls' and 'What pressure does social media places on girls?' (while these articles are targeted at girls, they are valuable viewing for all parents). We will all faces challenges in our lives, how we deal with them is what makes us who we are.
Preparations for the upcoming school musical are in full swing. This week students have been on stage rehearsing. It is going to be a fantastic show and a great experience for all students. Some students are, of course, nervous about being on stage in a big hall full of people; and that is why opportunities like this are so valuable at primary school. It a chance for us as adults to acknowledge challenges like nervousness - not everything is easy, nor should it be - and help students build resilience to take on positive challenges at an early age.
Don't forget as we transition into summer uniform from the 8th of September - our school has a 'no hat, no play' sun safe policy. All students need hats to be out on the playground at lunch and recess.
Assembly Date Change Week 10
Please note that our final assembly for Term 3 will now be held in Week 9, Thursday 18 September, instead of Week 10. This is a change from the previously published date in the term calendar.

Jesus and the Eucharist
The Eucharist is a special Sacrament in which we as Catholics receive Jesus in a unique and real way. Through this gift, we are reminded of His love, His sacrifice, and His presence in our lives. The Eucharist calls us to live out Jesus’ teachings every day—by showing kindness, helping others, and being people of peace and compassion.
This weekend, some of our students in Year 4 and 5will receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the very first time. We celebrate with them as they grow closer to God and begin their journey of living out the Eucharist in their daily lives at school, at home, and in the community.
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever." — John 6:51
Religious Literacy; Does my child need it?
Corpus Christi is proud to offer all students learning opportunities that support their academic, social, emotional and spiritual growth.
There are many day to day experiences for students that create opportunities for faith, culture and life to connect, to be explored and nutured.
One way our school aims to achieve this, is through developing students' Religious Literacy.
Religious literacy is defined as entailing the ability to discern, explore and analyse the fundamental intersections of religion and social, and cultural life through multiple perspectives.
Through our Religious Education lessons, our well-being and social/emotional programs, our prayer and worship, through our social justice initiatives and in our personal interactions, CCW aims to nurture students' Religious Literacy.
We encourage you to take some time to read the belief statements below, which CCW staff collaboratively created and jointly share as the vision for supporting the Religious Literacy of each child.
Sacramental Program Update
This Sunday, students in our current sacramental program will receive the Sacrament of First Communion. We keep Tua, Neve, Cara, Mia, Harvey, Samuel, Kynley an Deacon in our prayers, as they make their final preparations before receiving First Eucharist. All CCW families are welcome to come along to parish mass this Sunday at 5:30p.m.
Our 2025/26 sacramental program will commence next term. Families who wish to enroll their child in the program for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will have the opportunity to do so at the Parent Information Session on WEDNESDAY 15th OCTOBER at Corpus Christi school Library. This program is for children who are baptised Catholic and in Year 3 or above.

School TV: Raising Girls
Raising girls in today’s modern world can be a difficult path for parents and carers to navigate. These days, girls are transitioning to puberty a lot earlier than they used to and the physical, psychological and emotional changes they experience are challenging. As a result, by mid-adolescence, girls are twice as likely to develop mood disorders more so than boys.
Some parents and carers may feel uncertain about how best to support their daughter through the ups and downs of adolescence and how to keep the lines of communication open. With the rise of social media and technology, mental health difficulties in girls are increasing as often they are faced with online images that make it difficult to see themselves as acceptable. Ensuring a daughter’s opinions are heard and her views listened to, will go a long way towards making her feel loved and supported as she tries to establish her own identity.
In this edition of SchoolTV, adult carers will attain a clearer picture of what girls are wanting from their adult carers and how best to support them through adolescence.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Well done to our students for their improved focus on this rule, this fortnight.

Public Speaking
Congratulations to Our Regional Public Speaking Students!
This week, our talented students represented our school at the North Regional Public Speaking Finals. They did an outstanding job crafting and delivering speeches within the given time limits, demonstrating creativity, clarity, and confidence.
For our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students, the challenge included an impromptu speech, where they had just 10 minutes to prepare before presenting to the audience—a true test of quick thinking and composure under pressure.
All of these students earned their place at the regional finals through success in our school public speaking competition, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. Their dedication, courage, and poise were on full display, and they have been a fantastic representation of our school’s commitment to developing confident communicators.
Well done to: Bertie and Audrey (Early Stage 1). Mahalia and Aubrey (Stage 1). Ted and Phoebe (Stage 2). Lucy T (Stage 3).
A huge congratulations to Aubrey and Ted who were successful, and have qualified to compete at the Diocesan Public Speaking competition in a few weeks!
Well done to all our public speaking stars!
Creative Arts Update
Congratulations to Sophie in Year 6 as she prepares to take the stage in the Aspire Young Actors Program this Friday. Sophie has been working hard with students from Years 5–8 across the Diocese to devise and perform an original group script. This experience has allowed her to develop her acting skills, explore character work, and grow in confidence as a performer. We are so proud of her commitment to the arts and wish her all the best as she shares her talents on stage. Well done, Sophie!
Sport Update
Our recent Soccer Gala Day was a fantastic event, with all students from Years 3–6 taking part in friendly competition against peers from across the North Region. It was wonderful to see every child have a go, demonstrate their skills, and enjoy the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.
This event would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated team managers and the many parent volunteers who generously gave their time to help on the day—thank you so much for your help and soccer know how!
A special thank you also goes to Mrs Deveridge, who coordinated the event for the region, ensuring everything ran smoothly. We are proud of all our students for their effort, teamwork, and for being such fantastic sports throughout the day.
Summer Uniform Changeover
The official start date for the Summer Uniform is Term 4, Tuesday, October 14. However, due to the exceptionally warm temperatures we are experiencing this week, we have decided to move the summer uniform transition forward to - Week 8 Monday 8 September. Summer uniforms may be more comfortable during these warmer days.
For the remainder of the term, students may wear either full summer or full winter uniforms. Please avoid mixing items from both uniforms. If the weather cools down, winter uniforms may still be necessary.
The uniform shop will be open on Friday mornings, and Qkr! orders will be processed and sent home via classroom note bags.
Don't forget, 'no hat, no play'. Students who do not have hats at school will have to stay off the playground.
