Newsletter Week 6 Term 4 2024
Hi Everyone,
Faith in Focus
This weekend, our Church celebrates the feast of Christ the King, which falls on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, just before Advent begins. It’s a special time to honour Jesus as our King, remembering His love, guidance, and the values He teaches us.
At school, we use this feast as an opportunity to encourage students to reflect on the importance of leadership and service, and how we can follow Jesus in our daily lives. We teach children to love Jesus by showing them the ways He cares for others, leads with kindness, and serves with humility. It’s a chance for them to think about their actions and how they can live out Jesus' example by treating others with love and respect.
We hope that, by learning about His love and following His example, our students will grow in their own faith and become leaders who spread His light and love in the world.
We look forward to commencing our reflections on Advent at our Monday assemblies.
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, this week has been a much-needed "event-free" week, offering our students and staff some time to reflect and recharge. These moments of calm are invaluable as we prepare for the busy months ahead, and we hope it’s been an opportunity for everyone to catch their breath.
Kindergarten 2025
We recently wrapped up our Kindergarten Orientation sessions, and I’m thrilled to report that our incoming Kindergarten students are already buzzing with excitement about starting their journey with us next year. The energy and enthusiasm they bring are contagious, and we can’t wait to welcome them into our school community. It's always such a joy to see the new faces that will soon be part of our school family!
Leadership
Meanwhile, our Year 5 students have been reflecting on their upcoming roles as Year 6 buddies and as members of the 2025 School Parliament. Their reflections in the formation sessions are always thoughtful and considered, and we look forward to seeing them grow into these roles in the new year. Our Year 5 leaders will present speeches for selection into formal roles from next Tuesday.
Staffing
I shared the news on Compass on Tuesday we will be saying farewell to two beloved staff members at the end of this year – Mrs. Jenny Stamp and Mrs. Margie Shafren who are both retiring at the end of the year. Both of these incredible educators have made lasting contributions to our school, and their retirement marks the end of an era for our community.
Enjoy the week ahead

CCW Year 6 Religious Literacy Assessment
In September, our Year 6 class participated in the Diocesan Religious Literacy Assessment. The assessment focuses on students’ knowledge and understanding of key concepts that are addressed in the Religious Education Curriculum, and the ability of students to communicate their knowledge and understanding about the Catholic tradition.
Our 2024 Assessment data shows that Corpus Christi is above the Diocesan average, with 11 students achieving above the Diocesan expectation!
A special mention to Phoebe, Ben and Andria for achieving a High Achieving Certificate in the assessment.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Last night was a special evening for these students as they received their First Reconciliation. Tua, Neve, Samuel, Harvey, Mia, Cara, Kynley and Deacon prepared for their First Reconciliation throughout the term and with the support of their families, took the next steps in their faith journey. We will continue to keep these students in our prayers as they continue their preparations for Confirmation and First Eucharist next year.
What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
Reconciliation is a sacrament of forgiveness and celebrates God’s love and mercy towards us. It is about acknowledging and naming those times when we know we have not made a right choice, and then making peace and restoring the relationships with those who have been affected by our choices.
It is about restoring and strengthening our relationships with others and with God.
In September of this year, Pope Francis spoke about forgiveness. He said,
“outside of forgiveness, there is no hope; outside of forgiveness there is no peace.”
The pope compared forgiveness to “oxygen that purifies the air polluted by hatred” and heals the “many diseases of the heart”.
