Welcome Back - Term 3 2024
We hope this newsletter finds you well and refreshed after a relaxing break. As we gear up for Term 3, we are excited to welcome back our students for another enriching and productive term ahead.
Classroom Refurbishment
When we return to school, you’ll notice that the classrooms have been completely refurbished. Each room has been freshly painted with new carpets and wall coverings (Autex), with Year 2 renovations finished just a few weeks ago.
Please expect some disruption on the first day back as the project was completed late Friday afternoon. Teachers will receive support to settle back into their learning spaces. If any last-minute work needs to be finished in the classrooms, classes may temporarily use other learning areas such as the library, hub, music room, and hall.

We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Book Week with a special parade for the first time in several years! The theme for this year's parade is "Reading is Magic," where students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book characters. While dressing up is optional, we believe it adds to the fun and spirit of the event, students have the option to get creative with their costumes using items from home and recycled materials.
Here’s what you can expect:
-
Book Parade: Students are invited to dress up as their favorite book characters to participate in our parade at the start of the day.
-
Book Fair: Our Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the library. There will be many books on display for order. Classes/Families will have an allocated time to attend, further information published closer to the day.
-
Activities with Grandparents and Visitors: Following the parade, we will have various activities planned within class groups for grandparents, parents and visitors to participate in.

The canteen will continue to open on Mondays and Fridays. To ensure its smooth operation, we are seeking more volunteers. If you would like to contribute your time and support, please register with the diocese (link in the Principal's Messages).
Exciting news awaits on the menu! We've introduced new items that we're sure the students will love.
Additionally, we have reviewed the menu prices to align with our suppliers. This adjustment ensures fairness and sustainability in our canteen operations.
This is a reminder that the canteen aims to reduce waste by students providing their own reusable bags (available at the uniform shop) and that the canteen cannot accept cash.
Orders are open now!
Our school day and supervision by Corpus Christi teachers begins at 8:20 am.
A gentle reminder about the supervision provisions during the morning:
Before 8:20 am, there is no school supervision, and students should arrive on site at this time. Teachers are only required to be on-site at 8:20 am. Administrative and other staff cannot be responsible for supervision at any time.
St. Nicholas OOSH operates Before School Care operates from 6:30 am to 8:30 am. St. Nicholas staff supervise students enrolled and signed into the service during this time. These students have access to the school playground under St. Nicholas staff supervision. St. Nicholas staff cannot supervise students not enrolled in their service at any time.
We recognize the morning routine can be challenging for families, and we are here to support you. For students needing to be at school before supervision starts, St. Nicholas OOSH is available to provide care.
